So That's Where All The Dirt Has Gone

I have been teaching creation from Genesis to my young boys class on Wednesday nights for the last six weeks. Tonight we finished talking about how God rested. As we were going back over the days of creation, I mentioned that God had formed Adam/man out of dust or dirt. One of the boys in my class chimned in, "Yes, God made man and woman and kids from dirt. No wonder we've been loosing dirt in our backyard. My mom has four kids."

Last TAG for the Summer

This Thursday is our last TAG (Thursday Activities with Greg) of the 2009 Summer months. With events taking up the FLC and Greg's trip to Africa, we've had a one or two less TAG dayss this summer, but we've had a great time at the one's we've had.

This Thursday we will have TAG as usual, ending up our time with our traditional TAG Talent Show beginning after lunch (around 12:15 PM). All kids are invited to come show us their talent. Whether it's singing, playing an instrument, doing a skit with friends, showing a drawing or any other talent, Thursday is your day to shine. Anyone needing special music will need to bring it.

Hope to see you Thursday!

Greg

TnbKids Joins Facebook

Like many people my age, I'm regular Facebook user. I have Facebook friends from my Jr. High days all the way to folks I see daily. Facebook has become the way people stay connected, whether they live across town or across the globe.

Some time back I attempted to create a seperate social network for the children's ministry, but after much thought and conversations, it just seemed silly to try to create yet another place for people to go/join. Instead, creating something that was a part of what people were already using (Facebook) seemed much more logical and productive. And so, we now have a Facebook page for the Tenth & Broad Children's Ministry.

If you aren't much of a Facebook user you might be asking yourself, "Self, why does he need a Facebook for the children's ministry?" The answer is communication and not just one way, force-feeding information communication, but the back and forth exchange of information through discussions, comments, wall posts and more.

My goal is for our page to be another point of contact with those involved in the ministry and for those interested in or being introduced to our children's ministry. Our tnbkids.org website will soon get a make over as it becomes the hub of our online presence while utilizing great tools like Facebook, Twitter and the like. If you are on Facebook stop by and become a fan. You can find us here.

If you see yourself as "net-savy" then I just might be looking for you to help out and blogging, updating, writing, or monitoring our online presence.

How do you use Facebook, if you do, and if you don't, why don't you?

Kids Fest 2009 Has Come and Gone

Kids Fest 2009 was quite a day to remember. This year's event was rescheduled because of the Swine Flu (or whatever they're calling it now) to July 4th. It was combined with the City's fireworks demonstration.

Thousands of folks crowded into the MPEC for games and fun for kids of all ages. There were booths from local businesses, fun inflatable games and more. Each year we have two inflatable games we staff and our large Children's Ministry booth. This year Kids Fest had a jungle theme so we did our best to design a jungle safari basecamp complete with tent. As always, we had a free game for kids to play if and when they ran out of money for the other events. Our "quicksand" lizard hunt was a hit all evening long. A special thank you to everyone who helped out. Some worked the entire time (3-9 PM) whiles helped out by taking an hour 1/2 shift. We couldn't have done it without any of you! A big thank you to some of non-T&B friends who help out, also.
