T&B Children's Ministry's New Online Community

I have created a brand new place for the children's ministry to stay connected online. This site is our own private social network, allowing us to stay connected. Beyond the simple social aspects, it will allow us to do things like teacher training components, class projects, event planning and evaluations and instant communication about upcoming things and last minute changes.

As most of you know, social sites are the rage right now, so what makes this one any different? Really the only difference is it's focused mission for those involved in the Children's Ministry, including parents, teachers, volunteers, leaders and kids. Have you been reluctant to let your kids participate in sites like Facebook or Myspace? This site is a private site and all members must be members of the T&B church. All kids under 14 must have a parent also signed up to participate.

If you have spent any time on social sites, you can see quickly how out of control things can get. As Christians, we are to be transformed into the likeness of Christ...not conformed to the world. This site can be a great tool for parents to help their children live Christ honoring lives online as well as offline.

Be looking for more on this site in the weeks to come. If you're ready, click the link below and get signed up and help get this tool off the ground! Got a question? Shoot me an email or give me a call.

Christian Reviews of the Media Your Kids Want

I wanted to pass along a resource that's been around a while, but you may not know about. There is a website and a magazine called "Plugged In." This website will allow you to read Christian reviews on things your children's are watching, listening to and playing. I'm often suprised to find what some innocently looking media contains once you've checked it out. But who has time to listen and watch everything? Not me.

With Plugged In, you can search for the music, movies, tv shows, video games that your kids are asking you to buy for Christmas and see if it's something you want your child to have.

"Oh be careful little eyes what you see. Oh be careful little eyes what you see. For the Father up above is looking down in love. Oh be careful little eyes what you see."

Remember, it's our job to help children guard their hearts. You can check out the Plugged In website at www.pluggedinonline.com. You can subsribe to the Plugged In magazine online or pick up a copy at your local Christian bookstore.
